Why is my dog's eye blue and does he seem blind? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Belgian Malinois | Male | 6 months and 15 days old

My dog is a beligian malinos and this morning I noticed that his eye was hurt. I took a closer look and it looked like a blueish color almost as if he we're blind. Is there anything I could do to help him and prevent him from getting blind?

Without knowing the cause, it is i possible to recommend a treatment. Capolin should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. He could have an infection, inflammation, glaucoma, etc. and your vet can do some diagnostic tests to help duagnose. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or other medications to help treat.

It is difficult to know the cause without actually seeing his eyes. If it looks like his cornea is cloudy (can have a bluish color) then he could have inflammation in his eye from an infection or glaucoma. If your vet can't diagnose then you could find a veterinary ophthalmologist and have him evaluated to determine the cause and if treatment is needed.
