Why is my unspayed cat meowing, aggressive, and affectionate in heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 2 lbs

My cat is about 1 and a half years old, and yesterday and today she started acting weird, she's been meowing non stop, growling when I pet her and sometimes hissing when I get close, but she's also super affectionate when I pet her. She isn't fixed but she's never acted like this in heat before, it's really strange behavior for her.

It could be that Ochan is in heat, and her behavior of being super affectionate when you pet her makes me suspect this is the case. Cats do not always have constant behavior each time they go into heat, and they can act aggressive. If you do not want to have to deal with this constant cycle of behavior (and it can get worse with constant vocalization), I would recommend having her spayed as soon as possible.
