My dog was just neutered. Why is he barking & how long for cone?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 months and 13 days old | 104 lbs

My dog just got neutered yesterday and he's always either barking or whining and I don't know what to do about it!! And he how long does he have to wear the cone?

Usually the cone must be worn for one week or until the stitches are removed. These signs may be compatible with pain and could be quite normal after the operation. If persistent and last for more than 48 hours I would recommend a check up at your local vets.

    Poor Pilot! Getting neutered is always tough :( He will need to wear the cone until his stitches are ready to come out, usually 10-14 days after surgery. His barking and whining may be due to being confused and uncomfortable about the cone, or possibly due to some residual pain or soreness from the surgery. You may want to ask your vet about prescribing some additional pain medication to help make him more comfortable. If he's restless about being confined and not allowed to run and play, you can try giving him something nice to chew on to keep him occupied, like a bully stick or rawhide chew.
