Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male
What do you think about shock collars? I've recently read of a pit bull who fatally mauled a 90-year-old womon in Virginia Beach because he was driven to distraction by his shock collar. I'm sure there are some humans who would "train" with something even worse if those weren't available. Ought they to be available only by prescription from a veterinarian?

Shock collars, bark collars, and clicker training are all acceptable ways of training pets. The down side is they are ineffective if not done properly. They are great modalities in the correct hands that know how to implement them and do it correctly to where the dog understands what is being asked of them. Consulting a behavioral/trainer that is experienced is the best way to achieve positive results.
