Why are my cat's stiff hind legs and fever not improving?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 14 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

Suddenly, starting last Monday, my cat is extremely stiff in her hind legs However, she can still jump to get up on the bed & she sleeps 23.5 hours/day  A vet came to examine her on Thursday and didn't think it was saddle thrombosis cuz she has good circulation in her legs/they are not cold.  Her temp was 104.8 so he figured it's an infection somewhere in her body and gave her convenia. He thinks the sleepiness/stiffness is due to the fever. Still no improvement. What else could it be?

I'm sorry Jasmine isn't doing well at the moment! It could be she is suffering from arthritis, and that is causing her stiffness in her hind legs. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain and if there is no improvement in her symptoms, I would take her back into the vet first thing in the morning for a recheck.
