Should I buy a puppy with a birth defect, surgery, and leg problems?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female

Hi I'm looking at buying a puppy but the owner has told me that when the pup was born a part of the skin by the but hadn't formed properly and caused an infection, it's now on antibiotics but they have been informed that the pup will need to have its skin cut the stitched so the skin can form properly. She also mentioned that her vet said it could cause the pup to have one leg shorter than the other. Could you give me some advice please

I would not recommend purchasing such a puppy prior to repair and full recovery. I would be concerned not only about surgical repair and recovery but where one external birth defect is present, additional internal defects are often detected as a pup matures also
