HOW LONG DOES A FLARE UP LAST FOR A DOG WITH IBD?

Ibd flare ups range in duration from a few days to weeks depending on the patient and medications. Most ibd patients are on a special diet and long term medications. Ibd is diagnosed by biopsies of the small intestine and stomach. If the patient is well controlled on a special diet than most patients will need some type of medications to help stop the flare up. Ibd does not usually resolve on its own. Hope this helps.

Depending on what a dog is sensitive to and how severe the resulting inflammation of stomach/intestines is a "flare up" can be quite varied. If they are generally controlled well with diet and accidently get a small amount of a different food for example, the flare up may just be a few days. If a dog has more severe disease signs of IBD can last weeks and can require medication (such as medication for diarrhea, or even a steroid) to control the signs. Please let us know if you need any more specific information. IBD has a very wide range of symptoms. Good luck with KALI!
