My dog has kennel cough & is on antibiotics. Are there any other home remedies that can help? How long does he need to stay clear of other dogs? We have s family event where there will be multiple in a week.

Hi. Unfortunately there aren't any home remedies for this bacteria. The antibiotics are your best option. They are contagious as long as they are coughing. I am guessing by a week you will be good to go! Good luck.

Kennel cough can be self limiting in some cases and not even require medication. However you can give Roscoe a small amount of honey mixed with water to add some natural anti-inflammatory properties for his cough. This will also help soothe his throat some. Roscoe will still be infective to other dogs 7-10 days past resolution of his clinical signs (cough). I hope your family event goes well. Best wishes.
