Can both my dogs eat the same prescription urinary care food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 5.5 lbs

Our 9-year old, 4 lb toy poodle has been on your Urinary Care food for a while following surgery for stones. We have a 16 month toy poodle who is on a different food. We'd like to get them both on the same food. We know that puppies need more protein. Can we switch her to the UC diet?

The urinary care food is a prescription diet to maintain PH at a level to prevent certain stones forming. If you give it to a dog who doesn't need it, it can actually cause the PH to change too much causing another type of stone to develop. Therefore I do not recommend feeding it to your other dog.
