Why is my Chiweenie limping and not putting weight on his front paw?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 28 days old

My Chiweenie has been favoring his right front paw for about a week now. He seemed to have gotten a little better but this morning it seems like he doesn't want to put weight on it at all. I checked to make sure nothing was in his paw however it seems like the paw bothering him.

I'm sorry to hear that Zazu has been so uncomfortable! With front leg lameness, it is possible that he developed a soft tissue injury in his paw, fracture, or even neck pain (dogs can favor one front leg with some instances of neck pain). Zazu should go to his vet for evaluation because he may need diagnostic testing and pain medication. Until you can get to the vet, restrict Zazu's activity so that he cannot run, jump or play, because this could worsen any existing injury. I hope that he feels better soon!
