My old dog has eye discharge, flies, and won't eat. What should I do?

Hello, I have a concern about my pet dog. he has matter coming from his eyes and he has flies at the backside. He is drinking water but not eating. This just started last night. I am concerned and worried something is very wrong. What advice can you provide?

Sinbad could have a number of issues given his age including kidney disease, cancer, severe arthritis, or even muscle wasting. I would be concerned about those flies causing irritation as well as potentially maggots. I recommend he get examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible as well as be cleaned and stay inside to prevent the flies from harming him.
