My dog has skin allergies with pimples and crusts. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 2 year old Morkie has had skin allergies for about a week now. They resemble pimples, and some have a thin layer of crust on them. This is the 2nd time he's had this and was prescribed apoquel before. Are there any home remedies or tips for this allergy symptom?

It sounds like Milo is getting a skin infection secondary to his allergies, which is very common. Apoquel works very well for controlling itch but doesn't treat infections. He may need an antibiotic to treat the pimples and crusts in addition to the apoquel, or a medicated shampoo.
