How do I find out the breed of my 9-month-old pitbull mix dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 24 days old | 50 lbs

I have absolutely no actual idea what breed Zeus is mixed with. The breeder said 3/4 pit 1/4 lab. I never saw the parents. For sure he's a pitbull but the only other 3 breeds I think he might be mixed with is Rhodesian Ridgeback, German Shepherd, or Labrador. He's between 50-60lbs and is 9 months and 24 days old.

Zeus is one handsome guy! He certainly appears to be a Pit Bull mix, but it is impossible to precisely determine the other breeds in his mix simply by sight. From his appearance, I agree that German Shepherd or Labrador may be in the mix too. If you want a more precise answer, consider looking into a DNA test (Wisdom Panel - http://www.wisdompanel.com).

He certainly looks like a pit-lab cross. If you really want to know, buy a canine DNA kit. You can get basic ones in your local Petco or online. They use a cheek swab to determine breed(s). You can also go to your veterinarian for a more comprehensive DNA test using a blood sample.
