My dog has a bad tooth and is whining and shivering. Is she in pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years old | 26 lbs

I'm worried about my dog, I noticed she had a bad tooth the other day and she shivers and whines alot more then usual. She usually only shivers and whines when she hears thunder. She's also whining alot throughout the night. I'm afraid there's something more serious then a bad tooth going on.

I am sorry to hear about Lady. It is possible if she has an infected or broken tooth that she is in a large deal of pain. If you or anyone you know has had bad dental issues they can tell you how incredibly painful this can be. Shivering and whining can be signs of pain in dogs. I would recommend getting her into the vet ASAP. They can recommend a treatment for her tooth and also check her over for other potential problems if they feel the tooth is not the source of her behavior.
