How to best introduce a new male GSD puppy or adult to my female GSD?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 70 lbs

My female GSD is spayed & 4 yrs old. We are considering a male GSD as a family member and mate. This is her house and her family. What's the best way to introduce a male GSD, puppy or similar age GSD up for a new home

If she gets along with other dogs then I think an adult dog would be fine. But if she is a threatened by bigger dogs she may do better starting with a puppy. I would allow them to sniff esch other through a barrier like a crate or a baby gate. I would only allow them to be with each other under supervision for awhile until you know that they will be okay together. I would not feed them, give them any bones, or any any toys that she may be territorial over! Most dogs do great! Good luck!

    If you are introducing an adult dog I would start some place that is not the house. If they get along you can move them into the yard/ house with leashes and slowly go from there. Sometimes dogs get along great and other times they do not. If you get a puppy you can probably introduce them at home. I would recommend always monitoring them so if a fight happens you are there.
