My cat isn't choking, but how do I prepare for a choking emergency?

This definitely seems suspicious of an airway blockage. If this was the first time you've seen this, then it would be good to try and check inside his mouth to see if anything is visible. It's best to do this with two people - where one holds a flashlight and looks, while the other holds the mouth open. If you see something, then I recommend taking him to the vet to get it removed, because if you attempt to remove it at home, you have a chance of pushing it further into the throat. If he has had something like this happen before, then I would be suspicious of a nasopharyngeal polyp (a soft mass that can develop in the throat), which can cause them to choke every once in a while. This would have to be diagnosed and treated by a veterinarian. The other possibility is that he got his claw stuck in his collar. If she is eating and drinking with no difficulty swallowing I would recommend you just continue to monitor for any recurrecne of the symptoms - it sounds like the problem has rectified itself and she should recover uneventfully

This may be due to hair balls or something more serious could be going on like an upper airway obstruction from nasal congestion or a nasopharyngeal polyp. If you don’t already have your cat on a hair ball remedy like Laxatone, I would try that and see if it helps. It could be that Tiger ate his food too fast, leading him to choke a bit on it. To keep him from eating too quickly, I would portion out his food, giving him more of it after he eats a small amount. You could also put his food in a muffin tin, putting equal portions in each of the 12 tins. That will slow down his eating. I hope this helps!

I would be concerned that this bone could still be stuck in her throat, and Lobsti has to see a vet now. Poor Logan. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. It depends on the primary cause. In abscence of any symptoms related to an upper respiratory tract disease, such as nasal discharge or sneezing, or increased noise when inhaling, you will have to assume that it is a chest condition. All diseases affecting the chest can be potentially life threatening so urgent vet care is required. In the meantime, cats should be kept indoors with minimal stress. Feeding routine as usual, try not to overheat the environment masking sure it is cool and well oxygenated. Hope this helps !

Poor Ginger! His abnormal breathing could be a result of an upper airway obstruction (i.e. foreign material stuck in his airways), heart disease, asthma, pneumonia, etc., any of which could lead to decreased oxygen supply and a fainting episode. Underlying heart disease could also cause him to fall over if an arrhythmia is present. At this point, this sounds like an emergency condition that should be evaluated by an emergency vet immediately. I hope that all goes well!
