I am looking to get a different dry cat food for my 3. I did have all on Royal Canine SO due to my recently departed who was suffering from crystals n then stones. Cant get this thru vet anymore plus the ingriendients wheat n corn gluten, soy n such bothered me which im finding is in majority of dry n some have as first ingriendients. Should i be worried? Their moist is Purina Pro Plan but the ingridients in their dry seem questionable too. Thank you.

In my opinion (and most veterinary nutritionists who have years of additional training), there is nothing to be concerned about with these ingredients unless your cats have been diagnosed with a food allergy or intolerance. Corn, wheat and soy can provide important nutrients for cats. Royal Canin makes quality adult cat food as well, so you could transition to this. I also think Purina ProPlan dry is a good quality food as well. If you would prefer a food without wheat, corn or soy I would recommend talking to your veterinarian to see what food they would recommend.

Very cute cats! If Misty and the other 2 do not have urinary issues, you can consider transitioning them to an over the counter diet that fits your budget, you are comfortable with, all 3 cats like and have good stool on. There are some over the counter urinary diets available too if you want to try to stay consistent on that. You can look for a cat food that has a protein labeled as the first ingredient if that is a concern of yours. I think Purina Pro Plan is a fine diet, and have fed it to my own personal cat. I do not think wheat, corn or soy is an issue unless any of your cats have an allergy to those ingredients. I personally would recommend looking for a diet that has been through appropriate feeding trials and is guaranteed to be properly balanced for the life stage of your cats. I am not a fan of raw diets as I have seen too many cats and dogs get very ill from them. I also worry that they are not properly balanced. I hope this helps in your search. I would also recommend asking if you can get samples of various diets (some pet food stores do this), as many cats can be picky eaters and not like one brand over another.
