Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 19 days old | 2 lbs
I am fostering 4 small breed puppies. They are 6 weeks old, and I've had them for about 2 weeks with no issues. They went back to the shelter to get shots on Friday--it's now Tuesday and they are all sneezing like crazy and mucusy. I don't know if they picked something up while they were there all day. There's no coughing. We live in Texas where allergies are at an all time high--does this seem more like allergies or a URI?

Poor puppies! Since the sneezing and mucoid discharge began in all puppies a few days after going to the shelter for their vaccines, a URI seems most likely. The URI could be due to viruses, bacteria, or both, and most URIs require antibiotics for resolution. I recommend taking all of the puppies (all of whom have great names) to the vet for evaluation and likely antibiotics. Until you can get to the vet, keep their nostrils clear with a damp cloth and take them into a steamy bathroom a few times per day to help relieve some congestion. I hope that Bacon, Waffles, Pancakes and Maple all feel better soon!
