If this is a new behavior for Max, this could be concerning that there is something wrong with him medically. Any deviation from their normal behavior could be an indication of a problem in an animal. It is possible that he just enjoys the cooler room, but I would recommend taking him in to your vet to see if Max may be having a problem. At 10 years old, it is a good idea to get some blood work done on him to make sure all his organs appear to be functioning well and there are no red flags indicating problem.
