Why is my cat throwing up after dental cleaning and anesthesia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 12 lbs

I transitioned my cat to a new food about a month ago and she seemed to be having no issues. About two weeks ago she had a dental cleaning and two extractions under anesthesia. Since then she's thrown up her food a few times, otherwise she seems fine and still eats. Are these things actually related? Is there anything I can do before taking her to the vet?

Sometimes there can be vomiting after a procedure due to mild stomach/esophagus irritation. If so the vomiting should stop soon. I would call the veterinarian that due the dental to make sure they dont want to recheck Maeby. In the meantime you can continue with Maeby's normal food as it is unlikely to be the cause of her vomiting.
