Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 1 day old | 35 lbs
Hot weather in england right now, my English Springer Spaniel is very lethargic but drinking lots of fluids and keeping in the shade which is fine. She has an onset of acute diarrhoea which started off as normal coloured and now has spots of bright red blood in it (large intestine). She has eaten her dinner as normal albeit very slowly and gingerly - very out of character. Is it just the heat or something sinister. She's up to date on all vaccinations and flea and work treatments.

Heat and temperature changes can certainly cause some lethargic and GI upset. If it's only happened once, a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice may help, however if you continue to see blood in the stool, Zola's abdomen becomes very tender, or she has an increase in symptoms such as extreme lethargy when the temperature cools, vomiting, or more diarrhea, seeking vet care to rule out issues such as pancreatitis and other GI illness are best.
