My dog's eyes were red after a shower. Is it from water or shampoo?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Okay, so the dog's eyes is not as red as yesterday or a juts a bit red left, so it kinda got better. I didn't know, because yesterday, my brother gave a dog a shower, and it was raining hard after that, so the water might got into the dog's eyes and might caused to be red. So is that why the dog's eyes were red? It got a lot better now, there is a just a bit red left in the white area, no pawing at the eyes or scratching at it.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's eye. If the redness has resolved somewhat then it is likely from some irritation with the rain and shower, especially if your brother used shampoo. However, please monitor the eyes carefully and if he starts rubbing at his eyes, if the eyes start watering or he is holding them closed then please schedule a visit with your veterinarian. Eye irritation can develop into an ulcer on the cornea and these need to be treated quickly and aggressively.
