Poor pup. Muscle twitches in a pet so young can be caused by a toxin ingestion, a metabolic imbalance (i.e. Low calcium), an underlining neurological disorder, or it can just be a sign of pain somewhere in the body. If the muscle twitches are happening for more than a few hours then it is best to take Chevy to you nearest veterinarian for a complete neurological examination so that he receives the appropriate treatment. At the very least they can give him muscle relaxers to help with his symptoms and then any pain medication he may need. I hope your puppy gets well soon. Best wishes and good luck at the vet.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Spasms can be caused by many different things. Firstly, sometimes puppies will twitch in their sleep, and this is dreaming. If the muscle spasm is only in the left leg and continuous, it would be more concerning for pain in that leg. If that is the case I would have it checked by your vet to see if there is a luxating patella or soft tissue injury that is causing pain. Other causes of muscle spasms include toxins, neurological diseases/disorders, and metabolic conditions. If the spasms are very mild and intermittent then it might be behavioural, but if it is continous or severe, then I would have Coco seen by a vet right away. Best of luck with Coco.
