My cat ate gyro meat. Should I worry about onion and garlic toxicity?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Manx | Female | spayed | 1 year and 5 months old | 8 lbs

I mistakenly gave my cat a piece of gyro meat, about pinky length, thin sliced. Can the onion and garlic in that amount of meat cause serious damage? Should I be on alert? Thanks!

That should not be an issue. It would be more common to see an upset stomach with diarrhea and vomiting after giving that type of meat to a cat. You should watch Lilly for the next 2 to 3 days for any bombing, diarrhea, weakness or belly pain. If she has any of those signs she should be checked out by a veterinarian.
