Low-maintenance medium dog breeds for first-time apartment owners?

Hi, i am planning to get a dog, and i am going to be living in a small apartment in Portsmouth, and i would want a dog that is low maintenance and i am a first time owner with not a lot of time in my hand and i would want a medium dog, so what breeds are recommended?

If you are living in a small apartment, then a small breed dog would honestly be a better choice; in addition, smaller breeds don't need as much maintenance as a medium breed dog. You could consider a pug, a pekinese, a French bulldog, or even a chihuahua. These breeds need a minimal amount of exercise, and are very happy being lap dogs.
