My cat is very sick and won't eat. Should she get a feeding tube?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 years old | 7 lbs

My cat ís very sick. She has been for a week or so. She is not eating or drinking but every day she goes to the vet and gets fluids and vitamins. She throws up sometimes and is gagging. We feed her with a saringe. She has a infection in her eye and has sores in her mouth. Should we put a feeding tube in her or keep going to the vet and taking care of her? I really want to keep her she is only 6 years old.

Hi. If she isn't getting better, and it's been that long, I would recommend an ER and a second opinion. And yes, a feeding tube may be very helpful for her, but you have to find the primary cause of why she needs it in order to fix it. Good luck. I'd head to the ER.
