Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 6 months old | 8 lbs
My cat is a 2 year old domestic short hair rescue kitty. He has this spot that he will occasionally mess with but not regularly. He's on Revolution but I wondered what it could be?

Thank you for providing a picture of Jack's spot! This little lump could be a cyst or a benign tumor that is annoying him, but without seeing him in person I can't say for certain. Because he is messing with it, it would be a good idea for Jack to be seen by a vet for it. The vet can diagnose what this lump is, and what treatment is required if any.

It looks as if Jack has been licking this spot, meaning it is probably irritating him. It could be from an old wound, a bacterial infection (called a "hot spot"), or even a mite infestation. Unfortunately, when cats groom sore areas they often become more irritated and take longer to heal. If you can, place a cone collar on him or a kitty t-shirt over the area to cover it. I would recommend having it looked at by a vet just to make sure it does not require additional treatment such as antibiotics or medication for mites.
