My dog is sick, vomiting dark brown, and has dark stool. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 9 months old

Hello, I noticed blood in my dog's stool so I took him to a vet, she gave her a few injections and prescribed him an antibiotic and a medicine for fever. The bleeding has stopped but every night he vomits dark brown coloured stuff ( we're feeding him bread these days ) and his stool is dark brown is color too ( not entirely); I am reat concerned ( plus he has difficulty walking after taking the injections, he was resisting at first, sprain ? ) I hope you'll look forward to my problem. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble with Alex. I am quite concerned that he is vomiting brown material. I would recommend that you have Alex seen by your veterinarian again. They may recommend bloodwork and xrays to determine what is causing his symptoms. Possible causes include an intestinal instruction, infection, toxin or metabolic problem such as kidney or liver disease
