Why does my 1-year-old cat vomit food occasionally but seems healthy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 8.8 lbs

Hi, I have a problem with my one-year-old cat. Recently he's been vomiting up his food. It's not all the time it's only here and there and he doesn't appear to display any symptoms of illness. I've read articles about them eating to fast and stuff but wanted a professional opinion on why he might be unable to keep food down.

Eating too fast is not a common reason for vomiting in cats, despite the fact that you can find this misleading information over the internet too often. chronic vomiting in cats is almost always a sign of a medical problem, the most common conditions causing this are pancreatitis, IBD and lymphoma. another common condition is kidney failure but it is not common at this age. i would recommend taking Arlo to the vet in order to get it checked and treated ASAP.
