Why is my cat stumbling and not eating after glaucoma eye drops?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 16 years and 8 months old | 7.5 lbs

Can dorzolamide cause cognitive problems in cats? Just started using eye medication for glaucoma. Cat is not eating as much. Stumbles when walking. Almost walks into walls.

Systemic side effects from dorzolamide are not typically seen with topical administration. It may be that Bubbles has significant vision loss from the glaucoma affecting her. Glaucoma is also painful which may cause cats not to eat. I would recommend having her examined to see what is causing the stumbling and decreased appetite, and make sure the medication is working as prescribed.
