What's causing my senior Boxer's painful rash and mobility issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 60 lbs

my 11 year old boxer had 3 tumors removed about 3 months . she was doing great until I found some kind of rash, bacteria, allergy, or hopefully not skin cancer on her inner thigh. she has lost her appetite, and has a hard time going up and down stairs. it doesn't seem to make her itch and she does not mess with it, but you can tell that it is causing her pain. im gonna take her to the vet as soon as i can but im needing advice on what it could be so i can help her with the symptoms.

This is definitely a concerning area on the skin. Poor B.B., this does look painful. It looks like she has a severe inflammatory reaction (possibly allergic reaction) occurring on her skin, as well as a possible skin infection and also what look like petechiae (indicator of a bleeding disorder) on the skin. It is also possible that this area represent some kind of skin cancer (especially with her history), severe allergy, or an immune mediated skin disorder (i..e lupus). You will have to rely on your vet to do the appropriate skin testing, bloodwork analysis, examination and then the appropriate treatment based on the findings. Best of luck moving forward with her care and I hope you get to the bottom of this soon so that she can get some relief.

Hi. These lumps unfortunately look very suspicious of cancer. I hate to say that. Did the other masses get biopsied? I would get her in in the morning. In the meantime you can give 50mg benadryl by mouth for the redness and discomfort. Do not give any pain medications for humans or any other over the counter medication. I hope she feels better soon!
