My dog has a pink tail bump and a rib cage lump. What is it?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 55 lbs

Dog has one small pink nickel sized bump on the top of her tail that seems to be rubbed raw. She also has a smaller bump on her rib cage under her hair. What do you think this might be?

Markey is lovely! This lump looks suspicious to me, it could just be an infected wart or cyst but I'm concerned it could be a type if skin tumour. To be safe I would take Marley to the vet and they can test the lumps by sampling with a needle and sending to the lab. If iris a tumour it is better to find out what it is now and then it can be dealt with before it gets bigger.

    I can understand your concern. Tail masses can be cancerous or benign and most rib cage masses are benign tumors (non cancerous). However we cannot say for sure without getting these masses tested through your veterinarian. I would recommend scheduling an appt to get the necessary samples taken so that you know what they are and if they need to be something to worry about or not.
