My Boxer has cancer and a swollen paw. How can I make her comfortable?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 8 years and 2 months old | 70 lbs

my Boxer has cancer(multiple myeloma). she had been doing good aside from losing usage of her hind legs until this past week. she's started slowing down, being fussy about eating and last night one of her hind paws started swelling. i soaked it in Epsom salts and have been trying to keep it elevated but that hasn't reduced it at all. just trying to keep her comfortable over the weekend.

I am sorry alibi is not doing well. You can try a very light wrap with an ace bandage. You do want to make sure the toes stay warm (If bandage to tight toes will be colder). This might help with the lymphatic return and decrease the edema.

So sorry to hear this! If you think she is deteriorating greatly you should get in contact with your vet. For her legs, it can help to massage the leg, if you start at the bottom and do upwards motions you can help the fluid drain.
