My bird's legs are paralyzed after antibiotics. Is it temporary?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 5 months old | 0.21 lbs

Paulie has an URI. The vet gave her 2 shots of antibiotics and vitamins and also gave us some antibiotics to give her oraly. She got considerably better after a few hours. Problem is we gave her the meds and now she seems paralyzed: can't move her legs. She's otherwise active, she eats, drags herself using her wings and even plays with my jewlery. Is this temporary, because she got scared when we gave her the meds? She fought us a great deal when we did. Thx!

If she seems paralysed I would call your vet. Hopefully it is just temporary but the dosages of medication in birds are very sensitive so maybe she got too much, or possibly she was hurt when you restrained her to give her the meds?
