My puppy has frequent nasal congestion. What should I do to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 28 days old | 17 lbs

How can I help my pet breathe when he is suffering from nasal congestion? When there is a discharge it's clear his nose doesn't run all the time but he does get these episodes somewhat regularly (once or twice a month, which I've only had him maybe 2 or 3 months)

It is not normal for dogs to have chronic nasal congestion at a young age. Would be concerned about upper respiratory infection that might need antibiotics. I would recommend taking Him to a veterinarian to make sure his lungs sound clear.
