How to calm my dog for long car rides and prevent car sickness?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 13 lbs

I am travelling long distance with my dogs, some of them get very stressed and car sick in vehicles I was wondering what type of calmative or mild sedative I could give them?

As a sedative i usually recommend Xanax, it helps them sleep through the ride. for car sickness i usually use Cerenia tablets. both medications are prescription only and you can get them from your vet.
