My dog ate Flucloxacillin. What symptoms should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 4 years and 1 month old | 19 lbs

I caught Tom with a Flucloxacillin tablet in his mouth. I got it out and I think he had just split the capsule as most of the powder was still in it. I counted the rest of the tablets and that was the only one he got.

Such a small amount of flucoxacillin as this is unlikely to cause any signs or symptoms, although the powder is quite bitter it may cause some drooling and vomiting. Monitor over the next 24hours for any diarrhea, vomiting or changes in appetite and advise your vet if necessary of what he may have ingested
