My dog has soft lumps on her skin. Could it be hives or an allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 20 days old | 45 lbs

Woke up this morning and our dog had soft lumps all over her body, it seems to be getting worse. She doesn't seem bothered by them, no scratching or pain and she is just as playful as always, could it just an allergic reaction? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. She is a 7 month old american staffy

Poor baby! Yes, these appear to be hives most likely from an allergic reaction. I would give her 50mg benadryl by mouth and see how she does. If she gets more, starts vomiting, having diarrhea, or trouble breathing I would get her right away. Good luck. She is adorable
