Dog neutered a month ago: red mark near incision. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered

Hi. My dog was neutered about a month ago and this week we noticed he has a red mark in that area, he has been trying to lick it but it doesn't seem to be hurting him, it's soft to touch and he isn't bothered if we press on it. Is this something we should be worried about? Thanks

Chip might be havinng a delayed small suture reaction but also it could have nothing to do with the neuter. He could have an insect bite or something else causing irritation. If it is not improving in a few days I recommend taking him to a veterinarian to be on the safe side.
