My dogs don't play. Do they love each other? How to help them bond?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 8 years and 5 months old

I have 3 girl dogs, they are: pug-8 years old, small dog-17, medium/large dog 4 years. All adopted in different times but been living all together for more than 2 years. Because of age&character differences they do not play together. they like to lay close,(even when weather is hot), sniff each other behinds and follow each other around. They do not communicate much other than that. How can I tell if they love each other? And how can I get them to be closer? Added pic of them taking a nap.

What an adorable furry family!! It sounds to me like they already love each other very much. Even though they don't play together, I can assure you they communicate a lot. And all snuggling up together for naps-a dog won't let someone in their personal space like that unless they are a friend :) keep doing what you are doing, they look good together!
