Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 6 years and 5 months old
My dog is shaking and suddenly clingy and cuddly. She's always excited to go out but she hasn't gone out all day. This morning she's been really clingy and sleepy. Other than that there's nothing else and she has been getting her daily walks. Is she just cold or lazy today or is it something else? She usually isn't like this and is not at all clingy or cuddly.

If this is unusual behavior for your dog I would be concerned that there's something wrong. Shaking and lethargy can be indicative of pain, anxiety or that the pet just isn't feeling well. I would recommend that you take her to be seen by your regular veterinarian. A thorough examination will help determine what may be wrong and how to make her feel better

I'm sorry Hazel isn't feeling well! Lethargy is a very general sign of illness, and it can be caused by systemic illness, inflammation, infection, or injury. The trembling can be caused by pain or fever. It's a good sign she isn't throwing up or having diarrhea, so I would monitor her for now. If the lethargy continues over the next 24 hours, or she develops other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or increased trembling, then I would have her seen by a vet. Hopefully she is just feeling generally unwell and it will pass soon. Good luck, I hope this helps :-)

She is probably experiencing a gastrointestinal condition that is very painful (that would explain the shivering). It could be a simple gastrointestinal infection but it could also be something more serious such as liver failure, pancreatitis or a foreign body ingestion. I recommend taking her to the vet as soon as you can in order to get this condition diagnosed and treated.

Poor Sweetie! She could be shaking because she is in pain. She could have neck/back pain, abdominal pain, etc. causing her some discomfort. The best thing would be to have her examined by a vet to determine the cause of the shaking. Your vet can do a full physical examination to diagnose the problem and then determine the best way to treat. Hope she feels better soon.
