My dog has a pink growth between toes. Are home remedies safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 10 months old | 65 lbs

Hello! My dog bandit has some sort of pink red growth in between his toes. After doing some research I think it may be an interdigital cyst. I was just hoping to get someone's opinion to kind of confirm that so I can stop the panic. I read a lot online about home treatments and I've read that preparation h makes them go away. Is this safe to put on him? He licks off any ointments I put on him. also I read that Epsom salt soaks are good, which I did last night. It looks the same today though.

While an interdigital cyst is a possibility, it cannot be diagnosed based on visual observation alone. The other possibilities to consider include: foreign body, benign tumors such as histocytomas, malignant tumors such as mast cell tumors, or a simple bacterial or fungal infection. I would advise you to have it evaluated by your veterinarian. Ask about a fine needle aspirate to remove cells in order to determine if they are cancerous. And apply an E-collar to prevent licking.
