Why does my puppy have recurring nosebleeds? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 26 days old | 41 lbs

My puppy continues to have nose bleeds. Her vet put her on Vitamin K, thinking that she had gotten into rat/mouse poison (we do not think that is the case, and all blood tests came back with no toxins). They scoped her nose, no foreign objects, no abrasions. The first nose bleed was 4/18/17 (BAD), bled for 2 days before all tests and vitamin K was administered, she bled again 5/5/17, just once, and not again this morning. Vet said next is a CTScan. thoughts?

Poor Wrigley. My first thought is a clotting disorder. If this has not been investigated I would recommend having this checked. Also she should be checked for fungal diseases such as blastomycosis (based off of your region). You could also take her to an internal medicine specialist to have them evaluate her. A CT would be recommended if all of these tests come back normal. They would be looking for a defect or mass in her sinuses. I hope you get some answers for her.
