My dog's itchy skin is flaky after medicated shampoo. Is it normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | 3 years and 5 months old

My vet ask me to use mycocide shampoo for itchy skin. But after first use, it become flaky. Is it normal? I shaved the area with redness so i can rub the shampoo better on his skin

That could be a normal side effect of the shampoo as well as shaving. I recommend continuing with your veterinarian's instructions and watch for any increase in redness, new bumps or skin ulcers. If those occur contact your veterinarian

    Poor Elliott! If he is having such a strong reaction to the shampoo I would discontinue it, and use a clean wet washcloth or a warm bath to remove any residue that may still be on him causing a reaction. I would also let your vet know ASAP about the reaction in case they need to see him for treatment, and so they can switch to something that may work better. If you haven't already, seeking out a referral to a veterinary dermatologist is also a good idea with prolonged/severe skin issues.
