Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 14 years and 9 months old | 15 lbs
Hi, my name is Helen. Gidget my little Shih Tzu has both stomach and pancreatic cancer. She had surgery in March of 2016 and we were told she would probably die by August or September 2016. In recent months she has declined all food and treats. She has a feeding tube going into her esophagus through which I feed her Hills I/d. She has lost a very lot of weight. Her ribs and spine (back bone) are very prominent. Is this Hills I/d the very best nutritious food I could be feeding her? Thank you!

At this point it sounds like she needs a higher amount of calories. There are some food you can try but with her history of the pancreatic cancer component it could cause inflammation of the pancreas. I will discuss with your veterinarian something like hills a/D, recovery diet, are you at Max-Cal diet. Sometimes something like Ensure works as well. Sometimes we also use kitten or puppy food as it has a high calorie counts as well. But again your veterinarian maybe concerned about him on a fat with your dog having pancreatic issues.
