Why is my dog shivering after puppies? Could it be a nutrient issue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 50 lbs

My puppies will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I started them on mush at 3 1/2 weeks. The mother dog seems to shiver all the time for about a week now but seems fine otherwise. Could this be a lack of potassium?

Weakness and shaking can sometimes be a sign of nutrient/blood chemical problems, but shaking can also be a sign of nerves, cold, etc. If you do suspect an issue, bringing Sugar into the vet for an exam and blood work to check her values is best.
