My cat has a head wound with yellow discharge. Is it an abscess?

Hi, my cat came home last night with what looks like a puncture wound on his head, he seems to be acting normal but hasnt made any noise at all and seems a lot more affectionate, i know this may just be because he requires comfort. My concern is there has been no blood but despite cleaning the wound it has a yellow discharge/puss. He doesnt seem scared of you touching it. There are no local vets open tomorrow but if recommended i will travel to one.

Hello. It sounds like Marmalade has an abscess. Based on its location I would worry it may get worse as if can't drain properly. Sometimes warm compressing may help these things but usually wound care and antibiotics are needed. If you do warm compress it and keep it clean and it stays small it may be able to wait until Monday. But if it continues to have discharge, has swelling or Marmalade seems painful he should see a veterinarian before then. Do not give any human pain medication as it can be very toxic to cats.
