My kittens have diarrhea and worms. What's the best treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 4 months and 7 days old | 1lb

2 male kittens of 4 months age has non stopping diarrhea for about a month. One kitten has thin white worms in its stool. The worm has a moving lump in its 3 to 4 millimeters long body. Rice like this similar to tapeworm segments are also seen. Worms look different from internet images of tapeworm. The only hospital initially prescribed pyrantel palmoate, which i stopped when i read its not good for tapeworm. Nowthey gave septran. I don't see any progress. Should i continue both? You are correct about Pyrantel not treating tapeworms. Septran (trimethoprim sulfa) is an antibiotic drug that does not treat parasites. In order to kill the tapeworms you will need to get a drug called praziquantel.
