My German Shepherd has tick disease. Will doxycycline make him okay?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 83 lbs

Got a German Shepherd from the tulare co animal services. He tested positive to e canis and phagocytophilum. Giving him doxycycline for 28 days. He never had any symtoms but i found 3 small ticks and many scabs where i think ticks had been. Do you think this is the right thing to do and will he be ok?

Doxy is the right medication, but he definitely needs to be on a tick prevention product like nexguard or advantix every year during tick season in your area to prevent further infestation by ticks.
