How to help my 1-month-old puppy poop if she hasn't in 24 hours?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female | 1lb

My puppy is 1 month old, I got her on Tuesday night. I haven't seen her poop at all and today is Thursday , and it has me really worried. I tried contacting the original owner but they won't answer their phone. My puppy is peeing but has not pooped for over 24 hours, how can I help her poop? She's been drinking cows milk and we switched to a doggy milk powder formula.

Hi. If Aloy is bottle feeding she may still need to be stimulated to poop. Use a damp warm cotton swab and wipe around her anus to try to stimulate her to poop. Mom licks the puppies to stimulate them to pee and poop so that is what you are trying to imitate. If she had been on cows milk before and no formula this can cause some GI issues. If she still does not produce any stool today she may need a gentle enema but I recommend taking her to a vet for that the first time and have them teach you if it's necessary. Good luck with little Aloy.
